The SMMUSD Child Development Services department provides sound financial management of the department's resources in accordance with the State of California guidelines, Board of Education policies, accepted business procedures and the district budget development process. Responsibilities include budgeting and billing for infant/toddler care, preschool and school-age childcare fees, as well as the financial management of the entire department.

Fees & Fee Collection
Full cost program fees are approved by the SMMUSD Board of Education and reflect current market rates for childcare. Subsidy (financial assistance) childcare fees are based on the State Department of Education's Child Development Division Fee Schedule. All fees are paid on a monthly basis in advance of services on or before the 25th day of the preceding month at the CDS office. Fees are charged on the basis of enrollment, not attendance.

Full-cost programs are offered from August to June. Full cost fees are the same amount every month regardless of the number of school days open.

Pupil Free Days, winter, spring and summer break are not included in the fees and will be at an additional cost. Fees are not refundable.

Important: Financial assistance is available based on income verification and demonstration of the need for care.
