Peachjar

  • As part of our efforts to preserve natural resources and embrace technology, SMMUSD has partnered with “Peachjar” to send digital flyers on behalf of non-profit organizations directly to parents. Parents can stay informed about important activities and events that enhance their child’s life. Parent information is below for information on opting in to Peachjar if not receiving emails.

    PEACHJAR FOR PROGRAM PROVIDERS

Organizations seeking to post flyers through schools must register with www.Peachjar.com as a "Program Provider," then upload your flyer for distribution to your desired school(s). All requests to share information about not-for-profit activities or enrichment services available to the SMMUSD students will be referred to Peachjar. Flyers are no longer provided to school site offices or for distribution to students.

Part of the Peachjar account opening process includes providing proof of non-profit designation or association designation status from the state. Once on file, it will remain on file.
After your flyer has been submitted, it will be routed automatically to the district office for approval, then emailed as a visually engaging image to all parents who have their email address on file with Peachjar throughout the district. Peachjar provides an opportunity to have links as part of the post for more information, but does not provide for live links within flyers.

Peachjar charges a fee for this service that is typically much less than the cost to copy and deliver paper flyers to each school. Organizations may qualify for a “Free Community Account,” if the service / program is offered free of charge. Contact Peachjar by phone to request this status following account registration. (Peachjar contact info is on the Peachjar website.)

We do not approve fundraising efforts or advertisements from commercial or for-profit groups.

According to Board Policy 1325: SMMUSD may approve distribution of noncommercial materials that publicize services, special events, public meetings, or other gatherings of interest to students or parents/guardians. Prior to the distribution, posting, or publishing of any non-school group's promotional materials or advertisement, the superintendent or designee shall review the materials or advertisement based on the criteria listed below.

    • All materials to be distributed shall bear the name and contact information of the sponsoring entity.
    • All materials must be in English and Spanish.
    • Flyers must be 8 1/2 x 11 vertical and may be a maximum of four pages. (We suggest two pages of each language, or can be combined for a max of four pages.)
    • A disclaimer will be added to all submitted flyers stating that the district is not affiliated with the offering or assumes any liability.
    • Please note that live links do not work on Peachjar flyers at this time. Use the Learn More / Register button for viewers to be directed to your website for more information. You may spell out links within the flyer.

SMMUSD has a high parent participation rate in this service. However, some do opt out. We average more than a 40% open rate for Peachjar emails.

Peachjar charges a fee for this service, which is generally $25 per school site. When compared to the cost of printing color copies, this is usually a savings. For a full description of Peachjar fees, please click on this link to the Peachjar Pricing Page

Peachjar takes great pride in being able to offer a Community Free program as a way of giving back to our local communities. Peachjar will cover the fee for one flyer per 30 days to your local district, offering a free charitable event, service, or resource where children are the direct beneficiary. By incurring the fee, Peachjar hopes to make it even easier for those organizations to get the word out and impact the lives of even more children.

Please review Peachjar’s Community free guidelines here and note approval for the Community Free program is made solely by Peachjar, not the district. If you would like to apply and you have your flyer ready, simply register your account at Peachjar.com and email support@peachjar.com to request an application. Peachjar will guide you through the process from there.

For questions about flyer approvals, please contact the SMMUSD community and public relations office: Gail Pinsker, gpinsker@smmusd.org

For Peachjar technical support, please visit www.peachjar.com or contact ChrisBeal@peachjar.com 858-997-2117 x165.

We are pleased to provide our local non-profit partners with the opportunity to reach our families with student or family-related information, events and resources through Peachjar, used by hundreds of school districts throughout the state and country.

    PEACHJAR FOR PARENTS AND STAFF

Through Peachjar, parents and families may access flyers in three easy ways: online, by email, and in our SMMUSD mobile app. All school and district flyers will be housed online in an “electronic backpack” where they can be filtered, sorted and saved.

The district works with schools, school support groups, school organizations and community organizations to make information about not-for-profit activities or services and enrichment opportunities available to families, providing their material meets our standards.

How do I receive flyers from my child’s school?

With Peachjar, you can receive flyers in three different ways:

    1. Email
As a new SMMUSD parent, you will receive a welcome email from Peachjar that includes a username and password. This is provided so that you can manage your account and flyer delivery preferences. You don't need to login to receive or view school digital flyers. Flyers will be automatically sent to your inbox. Don’t you want to receive flyers by email? You can unsubscribe at any time. If you are not receiving or want to opt back in, visit www.Peachjar.com and subscribe to the schools you choose.

    2. Online (device or cell phone)
To see school-approved digital flyers, simply click the Peachjar button on your school’s website homepage to visit your online “electronic backpack.”
The Peachjar icon is to the right of the Twitter feed on your school's homepage.

    3. Santa Monica-Malibu USD mobile App
You can follow “Peachjar” flyers for your school in the Santa Monica-Malibu USD app by selecting the Peachjar feed under the "Settings" icon (Settings -> Follow Schools -> Your School Name -> Peachjar). Then, select the Peachjar icon in the app to view school-approved flyers in your “electronic backpack.”

By using Peachjar, SMMUSD will save tens of thousands of sheets of paper - the equivalent of hundreds of trees - and is no longer incurring the administrative burden and costs associated with paper flyer distribution. The system provides equity for all families to access fliers where previously fliers went home from some schools and did not for others.

The Peachjar system is used exclusively for distribution of school-approved flyers. Your email address will not be shared or used for any other purpose.
