Welcome to Child Development Services (CDS)! As a part of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) our department serves students through many programs, including the Infant/Toddler Center, Seaside and California State Preschool Programs (CSPP), Full and Part Day Preschool Programs and our School Age Program for students in grades TK – 3. We are proud to support the various needs in our community. We hope you find the programs you are looking for in CDS! Below are descriptors of the programs we have in our department.

Infant & Toddler Center (ITC): Located on the campus of Santa Monica High School, our ITC serves infants and toddlers 6 weeks to 3 years of age.  The program operates from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. The infant ration is 1 to 4 and the toddler ratio is 1 to 6. The center is licensed for 28 children. Pregnant and parenting teens may enroll in the Teen Parent Program. Preschool: Our preschool programs offer experiences for 3 and 4-year old children through our district facilitated and California State Preschool Programs (CSPP). Programs are available for a fee, or are no-cost or low-cost for financially eligible families. We have preschools on eight school campuses as well as at a stand-alone site. We serve in both Santa Monica and Malibu. Please see our “Sites’ page to find the right location for your family.

School Age: The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) School Age programs are available for students in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) to 3rd grade at all elementary schools in Santa Monica. Our Before and After school programs offer a rich array of activities as well as a daily homework opportunity. Please check with your school site for programs and schedules.
