I have been a teacher for 7 years. I currently teach the 3rd-5th grade Social Skills classes at Grant Elementary. I mentor because I am passionate about supporting and retaining excellent Special Education teachers!

I am a teacher at Will Rogers Learning Community with 11 years of experience. I enjoy being a mentor because I like working with new teachers and supporting them. I know the value of having a supportive and caring mentor, and I hope that I am able to provide the support and encouragement new teachers need in order to make their job easier and less stressful.

I have taught high school English in California for 10 years and taught abroad for two years. Teaching English, the skills required for college, and supporting literacy at all levels is what I do best. My greatest passion is supporting students and helping them embark on this academic exploration of self.

I am the Latin teacher at Santa Monica High School. This is my 12th year of teaching. My philosophy of teaching and learning is that everything is "figure-outable". I am a mentor because I know teaching is a communicative practice - where both mentor and mentee learn and grow their practice together.

I began my "Love of Learning" when I was five and from that moment on I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I played school with all my friends, invisible or real. I began my professional career teaching in 1998. I am a curious learner, love constructing meaning through learning and am grateful to collaborate with others through the process. I believe everyone can learn and that it needs to be a fun journey. Being a mentor has been an eye-opening experience. I have always been self-reflective. However, this experience has taught me how to support others in being reflective in their own practice. I would describe my relationship with my candidate as symbiotic. We learn from each other.

Hello! I am Kathleen Francisco-Flores, a math teacher who has been teaching for 10 years. I currently teach in Samohi. I do my best work when I am able to collaborate with innovative and progressive teachers who have fresh ideas. Being a part of the New Teacher Induction Program gives me opportunities to work with these individuals to not only help with instructional implementation but further develop my own practice.

This is my 14th year as a teacher. I worked at schools in Illinois and New York before moving to California. I had a student teacher from CSUN last year and really enjoyed working with a new teacher. We have a few new teachers at our school this year, so I thought it would be helpful to be a mentor teacher.

With nine years of teaching experience, I teach mathematics at the SAMOHI PBL Program. I became a mentor because I want to support our new teachers since our program is complicated, and I know first hand how difficult it can be to be new to our district, our school, and our teachers.

I am beginning my 7th year at Santa Monica High, where I teach Japanese, and occasionally Spanish or Freshman Seminar. In my 35+ years teaching, I have taught World Languages, ESL, and Literature at various public and private high schools in L.A. and overseas. As a mentor, I hope to be an encouragement and support to future educators as they seek to develop their pedagogy and implementation of equitable education for all students.

I have been teaching for 14 years in grades kindergarten through fifth. I have a Master's degree in education and am Nationally Board Certified. I am currently teaching marine science to all the students at Malibu Elementary School. I love working with teachers in the induction program and highly value the relationships the program builds among teachers in the district.

I have 36 years of teaching experience, most of them at Samohi. I love being a mentor because I believe teaching is the most important profession. I also learn so much from the younger teachers.
