    Immunization Requirements for All Students

California schools are required to check immunization records for all new student admissions at TK/Kindergarten through 12th grade and all students advancing to 7th grade before entry. Immunization records are assessed throughout the year to monitor immunization compliance at each school site.

Immunizations can be obtained from your student’s pediatrician or a local clinic. Parents/guardians must show their child’s up-to-date immunization record upon enrollment. Per CA state law, students without up-to-date immunization records will be excluded from school.

For more information refer to the Shots for Schools website.

In rare cases, students may qualify for a medical exemption. Students needing a medical exemption must discuss this process with their physician for approval. Information about this process can be found here. Proof of a California Immunization Registry-Medical Exemption (CAIR-ME) form must be submitted upon enrollment. School staff do not provide exemptions or accept notes from providers about delaying immunizations. Students with approval for a medical exemption may still be excluded from school during outbreaks or because of exposure guidance from the LA County Department of Public Health.
