Spanish Immersion Program

  • Two-way immersion is an educational model that integrates native English speakers and native Spanish speakers with the goals of promoting high academic achievement, first and second language development, and cross-cultural understanding.

At John Adams Middle School, the Immersion Program is designed as a strand. Students in the program are required to commit to an extended day. To accommodate for the additional classes, students begin one period earlier than non-immersion students.

Language learning takes place primarily through content instruction. Academic immersion classes use the same district-approved standards-based textbooks used by other schools in the district. Assessment is done in both English and Spanish.
