What does Site Governance do?
The Site Governance Council creates and implements plans to improve the school, and oversees expenditures of funds.
Who is on the Site Governance Council?
The Site Governance Council consists of staff representatives (including the principal) and parent members.
What is the time commitment?
The minimum time commitment involves attending meetings that are held once a month on Tuesday afternoons, 4:00-5:30 p.m. There is sometimes additional time required to follow through on specific projects. The Site Governance chair prepares an agenda together with the principal. Each position is what one makes of it - one will get out of it what one puts into it.
What did we accomplish this year?
Last year, Governance reviewed department plans/objectives to assess the alignment of school-wide goals (improvement in numeracy and literacy). Also, the Council adopted proposals for the allocation of the district's Equity Fund.
How do I get involved?
Elections for voting members take place in the fall at Registration. All meetings are open to the public. Meeting agendas include an opportunity for Public Comments.
