Samohi Student Enrollment Procedure and Requirements
All CURRENT SMMMUSD middle school students are pre-enrolled to attend Santa Monica High School. If your student’s plans change, please click “How to withdraw from Samohi” to let us know to remove your student from our roster.
NEW STUDENT enrollment for the 2024 – 2025 school year will begin May 1, 2024 and continue through the start of the school year.
In order to obtain enrollment documents, you must first provide documentation that your student resides within Santa Monica High School’s boundaries.
Welcome Future Samohi Families,
We look forward to you and your student joining our community! Please find important information below as it relates to specific enrollment processes:
New Student Enrollment
In order to obtain enrollment documents, you must first prove residency within the Santa Monica High School’s boundaries.
- Please call 310-395-3204 to make an appointment with Ms. Mendoza, our enrollment specialist to start the residency verification process. Appointments are available from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 2:00 p.m.
- Our office will need to verify your address before proceeding with enrollment. Click here for examples of proof of residency.
NOTE: Electronic documentation will not be accepted. Official mail must be dated within the past 45 days. NO phone or internet bills will be accepted as proof of residency. - You will need to verify your child's birth date with a birth certificate.
- You will need to bring complete immunization records for all students. Up-to-date immunizations must be completed before your child may enter the classroom. Click here to see immunization requirements. You may contact our school nurse with questions about immunizations at samohihealthoffice@smmusd.org
- You will need to provide a copy of your student’s recent transcript, with exit grades (for mid-year enrollment). If the transcript is in a language other than English, a translated version must be presented in English for enrollment.
- Once verified, we will provide you with a packet of forms and information which must also be completed and returned.
When everything is complete, your student will be assigned an advisor (incoming freshmen will have a temporary advisor until advisors are assigned in August). Ms. Mendoza, our enrollment specialist, will give you contact information for the advisor, and you will need to set up a meeting to select the appropriate courses/ schedule so that your student can graduate both college and career ready.
Please explore our website to learn about the exciting programs we have on campus. Again, we look forward to welcoming you to the Viking family!
Take care, stay healthy, and stay safe.
