Students are required to take four semesters of Physical Education (P.E.) during high school at Samohi. This includes mandatory P.E. in 9th grade, then two additional semesters at the student's choice.
Students are required to dress appropriately for P.E. for their own safety and in order to participate fully in activities. Acceptable uniforms are sold at the Vikes' Inn or may be loaned in cases of financial hardship. Failure to suit up for P.E. may result in failing the course and/or disciplinary action.
Some courses found in the Performing Arts Department may satisfy the P.E. requirements. They include Color Guard, Marching Band, and in some pre-approved instances, Independent Study.9th Grade P.E. (Boys and Girls)

This course is designed to provide students with a variety of Physical Education experiences. Students will be programmed into Elective P.E. classes. Once in the classes, they will then have the opportunity to select from the options listed below which six-week units they would like. Based upon the number of student requests, three six-week units per semester will be offered. Units may vary from class to class based on student requests.
