Welcome to the Samohi National Honor Society Website

National Honor Society Eligibility Requirements*:
- Be in tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade and have been in attendance for a period of at least one semester at Samohi
- Apply for membership each school year; and, candidates may not apply after the fall of their senior year
- Have a minimum, unweighted GPA of 3.8 for the year for which membership is being applied, AND have been enrolled in one Honors, AP, or minimum three-unit college course**
- Complete 30 hours of service/volunteer work within Samohi or community; must be completed prior to the first day of the following school year.
- Hold a good character and maintain high integrity
- Participate in at least one extracurricular activity, school-sponsored or outside of school
The Membership Application period is during the fall semester only. Students will be notified of it via their SMMK12 email. Membership is based on final grades only; therefore, the membership application period is for the prior school year. Since Freshmen do not have final high school grades, they are not eligible to apply.
* Beginning with the class of 2026, for membership for ninth grade only, enrollment in Honors, AP, or minimum three-unit college course, is NOT required.
The NHS Membership Application for the 2023-2024 school year will be open September 18 – 30, 2024. Students will thoroughly read the message emailed to their SMMK12 inbox with the subject line: NHS & CSF Membership Applications Now Open! Due 9/30/24, on Tues., 9/17/2024, to complete application steps. The Membership Application deadline is September 30, 2024.
