Visual Arts

  • Malibu High School has a very strong visual arts program comparable to the size of the student body. The goal is to help students develop and encourage the artist within while teaching the fundamentals of art technique. The faculty strongly believe that creative art expression helps develop a passionate and healthier mind. Teachers create projects that challenge students and ultimately prepare them for college level fine arts courses.

The Visual Arts program offers classes in:

    • Ceramics
    • Digital Design 1
    • Digital Design 2
    • Drawing

The Visual Arts Department is dedicated to giving students the highest level of education and enrichment possible. We provide opportunities for students to participate in community art exhibitions and events on a yearly basis.

For the past several years SMMUSD has sponsored a District-wide Art Show for Malibu and Santa Monica middle and high school students. Mr. Evenson & Mrs. Bowman-Smith's students were among the award winners at recent show.

MHS art students also have the opportunity to exhibit their work at the Malibu Student Art Exhibit held annually in Malibu City Hall, The Malibu City Winter Open House, and the District-Wide Art Show in Santa Monica.
