Physical Education

  • The high school curriculum will build on what has been previously learned in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes. In each unit the skills and strategies will be more advanced. During the sports program students will gain an understanding of mechanical principles and the effects of exercise on the body. They will also develop interpersonal skills in the following activities: softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, touch football, tennis, track, swimming, cross-country and weight training. Students will learn the concepts leading to life-long fitness. Warm-up and exercise activities will involve flexibility, strength and cardiovascular fitness. Two semesters of Physical Education is required by all 9th graders. PREREQUISITE: None.
