    Pre-Qualification Requirements: Contractor Pre-Qualification Bid Process Posted

    Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District has contracted with Colbi Technologies, Inc. to provide a no-cost web-based process for formal and informal (CUPCCA) bidding prequalification called QualityBidders. Prequalification will be required pursuant to California Assembly Bill (AB) 1565 which went into effect on January 1, 2014.     Public Contract Code 20111.6 requires the district to pre-qualify certain projects. PCC 20111.6 applies to prime contractors and M/E/P sub-contractors with the following licenses:

    • General Contractors (A and B)
    • Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing subcontractors (C-4, C-7, C-10, C-16, C-20, C-34, C-36, C-38, C-42, C-43 and C-46)

    SMMUSD - Samohi Exploration Building & Gymnasium Project LLB - RFQ/P #20.16

    NOTICE INVITING INFORMAL BIDS

    Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District of Los Angeles County (SMMUSD) will receive sealed qualifications and proposals from contractors holding a type “B” license, on the following: RFQ/P #20.16.SMS, Samohi Exploration Building & Gymnasium Lease-leaseback (LLB) Project at Santa Monica High School. The total scope of work for the project is estimated to be $100,000,000 and includes the following: The abatement and demolition of the existing: History Building and adjacent buildings known as H123 and H127; and the Cafeteria. The construction of a new building, comprising of two different forms of construction, being the gymnasium and associated spaces; and the construction of an adjacent, new academic building. The design and installation of shoring for the excavation of the new Gym Building and the bulk excavation to final floor level in preparation for the start of construction of that building. Extensive grading of the site, with a substantial amount of cut and fill and the export of surplus dirt. Installation of utilities to service the new buildings. A substantial amount of landscape and hardscape.     SMMUSD - SAMOHI Music Bldg Flood Repair Project - INFORMAL Bid #20.14.SMS - FIP Website Posting

    Santa Monica Malibu Unified School District of Los Angeles County (SMMUSD) will receive sealed bids from contractors holding a type “B” license, on the following: Informal Bid #20.14.SMS - Santa Monica High School – Music Building Flood Repair Project at Santa Monica High School. This scope of work is estimated to be between $90,000 - $110,000 for the installation of a 40-foot length of a 3” cast iron roof drainage pipe in a 3-foot high ceiling space, penetrating a stucco wall and connecting a vertical down pipe to an existing storm drain system. The replacement of 140 sf of a three-layer drywall “fire-wall” system, repainting an entire 1,600 sf room and replacing the vinyl tile and molding and other associated work included in the bidding documents.     SMMUSD - Samohi Interim Repairs/Upgrades - PA's, Bells & Clocks Project - Bid #20.07.SMS

    NOTICE INVITING BIDS

    Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District of Los Angeles County (SMMUSD) will receive sealed bids from contractors holding a type “C-7” license, on the following: Bid #20.07.SMS, Santa Monica High School Interim Repairs/Upgrades – PA’s, Bells, and Clocks Project at Santa Monica High School. This scope of work is estimated to be between $1,300,000.00 - $1,600,000.00 and includes the procurement and installation of a paging, clock, and bell system at Santa Monica High School. The high school currently has an existing paging, clock, and bell system throughout the campus. Within the campus there are some buildings with an existing traditional non-IP based system and others with an IP-based system. The purpose of this project is to install a campus-wide IP-based PA, bell, and clock combination device system as well as out-door speakers while re-using existing infrastructure where possible, as detailed in the bidding documents. The final system will be a hybrid system (IP and traditional speakers), communicating over the IP network for centralized control on the campus and at the District office. The system is to be fully functional and includes installing new hardware; cat-6 cabling from the devices to the respective IDFs; a central operating system, and other associated improvements per bidding documents.     NOTICE TO SOLICT CONTRACTORS for the District’s Informal Bidding (CUPCCAA) Contractor list per Public Contract Code Section 22034

    On December 9, 2010 the Board of Education of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District resolved to establish an Informal Bidding Procedure per Public Contract Code section 22032. In accordance with that code, the District is soliciting contractors to register with the District to bid on these projects. Informal projects are generally defined as facilities projects with an estimated value of less than $200,000 thousand dollars. Contractors on the list will be notified directly of all informal project opportunities within their trade(s) as they become available for bidding.

    Qualified Contractors must be licensed in the State of California (CSLB) and the license must be current, valid & in good standing. Interested contractors may submit an Informal (CUPCCAA) application for consideration via QualityBidders website at no cost www.qualitybidders.com. Once the application has been reviewed your firm will receive a notification advising determination of the application submitted.
