McKinley/SMMUSD First Day Packet

  • The First Day Packet is now online in the Aeries Parent Portal.

On May 22 the district launched the "Elementary Parent Portal" in Aeries.

The online Parent Portal allows parents to view their child's attendance, as well as assessment results such as the state test CAASPP scores and ELPAC scores for English Learners.

In the Parent Portal parents can also update their phone numbers and emails for school communications.

Parents will have received an email invite to activate their Parent Portal account. Please click this link to activate your account now, so that you can receive important information in the fall. The First Day Packet at the start of each school year will now be online in this Parent Portal.

    Title I Funding

At this time McKinley no longer qualifies for Title I funding and is no longer a Title I school. Title I was approximately $125,000 in federal funding for expenditures that help to close the achievement/opportunity gap such as the Intervention Teacher, theater program, staff professional development etc.  Schools qualify for schoolwide Title I funding (used for all students) when at least 40% of students are considered low-income based on the Free-Reduced Lunch Application, or Targeted-Assistance Title I funding (used to support low-income and at-risk students) when at least 35-39% of students are considered low-income. In 2022-23 McKinley was at 34%, just 1% away from qualifying.  More information can be found in last year’s principal presentation available here

Even though meals are now free for all students, we need all families to complete the Free-Reduced Lunch Application in order to potentially re-qualify for Title I funding this 23-24 school year. The Free-Reduced Lunch Application is available at https://www.smmusd.org/Page/4083  Our goal is 100% participation! Please reach out to our office if you need assistance completing the form. Thank you for your help, and thank you for donating to the PTA at www.mckinleypta.com and to the Santa Monica Education Foundation at www.smedfoundation.org!
