Counseling Support

  • General Education Counseling Support

Students who need counseling can be eligible for this support at school through Family Services of Santa Monica (FSSM). Counseling support can consist of brief check-ins, small group, or individual counseling sessions.  Our FSSM Coordinator/Clinician and interns run these sessions.  Parents or the classroom teacher can refer children for counseling support. Parents must provide consent for students to receive services.  If your child needs counseling support, contact our FSSM coordinator, Jesica Ixtlahuac (jixtlahuac@smmusd.org, 310-828-0335 ext. 61-320.

    Special Education Counseling Support

Students in special education who need counseling support receive it through our school psychologist, Yesenia Arriaran. If your child has an IEP and does not have counseling services but needs counseling support, contact Yesenia Arriaran (yarriaran@smmusd.org), 310-828-0335 ext 61-312.

    504 Counseling Support

If a student qualifies for a 504 Plan with counseling, the student will either see our general education or special education counselor depending on space and the specific need.
