Welcome to Will Rogers!

  • Will Rogers Learning Community is a joyful and nurturing educational environment dedicated to extraordinary levels of achievement, lifelong learning, and personal well-being for all its stakeholders—students, staff, parents and community. As an International Baccalaureate Programme School, we believe there is a broad range of capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. We make a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them. We do this through the development of students according to the IB learner profile. The profile aims to develop learners who are:

    Learner Profiles

Will Rogers serves approximately 545 students in grades K-5. In grades K-3, the maximum student-teacher ratio is 24:1 and in grades 4th and 5th, 30:1. However, over the last several years, classes have been 23:1 or lower. In addition to the classroom teacher, every classroom at Will Rogers has an instructional aide for a portion of the day to assist classroom teachers in providing individualized and small group instruction. In our TK classroom there is an instructional aide for the full day.

Will Rogers' students are active participants in a rigorous, standards-based curriculum. Highly qualified teachers, several of which are nationally board certified, engage in on-going professional development tied to research-based instructional practices that advance student progress. We currently have a cohort of teachers participating in a two-year fellowship through a partnership with the Cotsen Family Foundation. Together with a mentor teacher from the Will Rogers staff, this cohort receives mentoring and learning opportunities to grow their practice from “good to great.” Our teaching staff participates in yearly training through the Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project.

Our school leadership is a collaborative voice of staff and families, all of whom share a vision of continuous improvement. Parents and community members work in partnership with the school to support student success. Parents participate on committees such as School Site Council, English Language Advisory Board and Parent Teacher Association. There are many ways to become involved and participate in the community of Will Rogers. The Will Rogers PTA is an integral part of our community. They help us build community spirit and improve communication through newsletters and informational meetings. Additionally, they host volunteer programs for the classrooms, special events such as the Welcome Back Picnic, Movie Nights, and Cinco De Mayo Festival.

We welcome you to Will Rogers!
