Nicole Dehlin-Grant
Dear Roosevelt Community,
I am writing to express my interest in serving as a member of the School Site Council. As a dedicated parent and advocate for quality education, I am eager to contribute my time, skills and insights to further enhance the educational experience of our students. I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact that effective collaboration between parents, educators, and administrators can have on the overall school environment for my daughter (3rd-5th grade) and would be thrilled to further advocate further for my son (K-going into 2nd grade) and all our students. It is this collaborative spirit that I seek to foster and strengthen as a member of the School Site Council.
Throughout my professional career and volunteer work, I have developed strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, which I believe will be valuable assets in effectively fulfilling the responsibilities of a council member. I am committed to actively participating in meetings, engaging with stakeholders, and working collaboratively to address the diverse needs and priorities of the school community. Furthermore, I am deeply passionate about promoting inclusivity, equity, and diversity within our school, and I am dedicated to advocating for policies and initiatives that support the academic success and well-being of all students, regardless of their background or circumstances. As a parent of permit children and an alumni of the school district, I feel uniquely qualified to speak to these initiatives.
If elected to School Site Council, I pledge to:
- Listen attentively to the concerns and perspectives of parents, teachers, students, and other stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with fellow council members to develop and implement strategies that promote student achievement, school improvement, and community engagement.
- Advocate for resources and support services that address the diverse needs of our student population.
- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture where every voice is valued and respected.
I am truly excited about the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success and growth of our school, and I am confident that, together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students. Thank you for considering my candidacy. I look forward to the opportunity to serve on the School Site Council and to work alongside you in pursuit of our shared goals.
Sincerely,
Nicole Dehlin-Grant

It is with dedication that I stand before you as a nominee for the School Site Council, driven by my commitment to improve student academic achievements.
My academic background, including a Masters in Educational Policy and Organization Leadership, a Multi-Subject Teaching Credential K-8, and an Undergraduate Degree in Finance, has uniquely prepared me for this role. With my work experience directing educational centers in both private and public settings and my volunteerism on the Executive Boards of Roosevelt PTA and Santa Monica-Malibu Council PTA, I have consistently advocated for students and their academic pursuits. Drawing from my work experience reviewing, interpreting, and utilizing educational assessments to develop successful educational plans and my experience managing budgets, I am confident in my ability to collaboratively establish a School Plan for Student Achievement, including proposing expenditures of funds needed to fulfill the goals.
Thank you for considering my nomination. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to utilize my skills and background to support the academic success of ALL Roosevelt students.
Sarah Pincu
I am a mother of a first grade student at our school, and I am committed to ensuring that communication between administration and families remains transparent and that the voices of the community are heard by our school leaders.
Earlier this year, I learned that the number of families donating to the Education Foundation was at 23% after the initial donations in the Fall were collected. I started asking questions, spoke to our Education Foundation liaison Deb Burgin, and ended up forming a committee for our school to increase understanding of the role of the foundation, and its importance in the role of our students' education. Since forming that committee, Roosevelt’s participation has increased to 60% through improved messaging, and increased visibility about the impact of the foundation on beloved programs that make SMMUSD unique. I am hopeful to continue to have conversations about school values, program sustainability or changes needed, as well as representing our families in this forum.

Dear Roosevelt parents and faculty:
I am the very proud father of a 17-year-old Roosevelt Alumni and a 6 ½ year-old Roosevelt first grader. I am excited at the opportunity to serve on the School Site Council to support our wonderful school, staff, and students.
I have an extensive business background including investment management, managing luxury resorts and currently the Vice President of Operations for a luxury senior assisted living company. My wife, Klara, is also well known in the community and active in supporting the Roosevelt faculty and students. My passion to make the student experience outstanding, combined with my business acumen, will serve our community well.
By serving on the council, I will have the opportunity to work closely with the school to improve the budget, programming, and overall experience for our students. It will be an honor to serve our community.
Thank you for your consideration,
Lance Shenk
Lacy Wetmore
My name is Lacy Wetmore, and I am currently the acting Yearbook Chair and the 1st VP of Budget and Finance on the PTA Executive Board. I have held the position of Yearbook Chair for two years, the 1st VP of Budget and Finance for one year, and I was previously the Recording Secretary for the PTA Executive Board for a total of two years. I have a background in theater through Loyola Marymount University. During the time I was pursuing higher education, I worked as a tutor with the Kumon Learning Center. Briefly after graduating, I was also a tutor with The Academic Advantage, a tutoring program used throughout LAUSD in affiliation with the No Child Left Behind Program.
Having two children who currently attend Roosevelt Elementary, I am very passionate about education and how to give all of our children the best experience possible during their extremely formative years. My biggest desire in becoming a member of the School Site Council is to focus on growing our community and its sense of inclusivity. I love that other schools within our district appear to be aligned with this same sentiment of fostering a welcoming and safe school community while also focusing on the development of our children’s social and emotional learning. As a parent who prioritizes meeting academic standards in my own home, I would also concentrate on creating rigorous academic goals with a particular emphasis on improving student performance and closing learning gaps.
It would be an honor to represent the best interests of our Roosevelt family. Thank you for your time.
