Santa Monica Middle School Sports
Program Expectations
Participation in Santa Monica Middle School Sports is a privilege that carries responsibilities. To maintain a high-quality experience for all, we expect the following from our athletes and families:
- Academic Standards
Student-athletes are "students first." Participants must maintain satisfactory grades and citizenship marks to remain eligible for games and practices.
- Commitment to Practice & Games
- Attendance: Athletes are expected to attend all scheduled practices (typically 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM) and games.
- Communication: If an athlete must miss a session, notification must be sent to the coach via TeamSnap at least 24 hours in advance, except in cases of emergency.
- Transportation
- Parents/Guardians are responsible for arranging transportation to and from practices and local games.
- Specific travel requirements for away events will be communicated seasonally via the Home Campus/Team Snap portal.
- Conduct & Sportsmanship
- Respect: Athletes will show respect to officials, opponents, coaches, and teammates at all times.
- Online Presence:
Student-athletes are representatives of SMMUSD; social media conduct should remain positive and respectful.
- Registration & Waivers
All athletes must be fully cleared through our Team Snap/Home Campus platform before participating in tryouts. This includes digital signatures for all liability waivers and medical emergency forms.
