At SMMUSD, every TK-8 school offers high-quality, enriching programs through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)—in partnership with more than 17 trusted community organizations and led by caring, qualified adults. These experiences are offered over 225 days per year, including afterschool, summer, holidays, and intersessions, ensuring students have safe, supportive, and inspiring spaces to grow all year long.
Programs are designed to reflect the diverse interests and evolving needs of our students and families—connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences. Whether it’s STEM, academic support, sports, dance, visual and performing arts, digital media, gardening, mindfulness, or student leadership, ELOP programs are crafted to ignite curiosity, deepen skills, and build confidence.
Teacher-led academic interventions and enrichment activities are available both semesters, expanding access to small-group instruction and interest-based learning.
Every day, students benefit from consistent routines, strong mentorship, and hands-on opportunities that foster creativity, collaboration, and well-being. Nutritious snacks are provided to eligible students, supporting the whole child in mind, body, and spirit.
