Reopening Procedures: Read Thoroughly

  • Dear MMS/MHS Students and Families,

Thank you for your support with our re-opening of Malibu Middle School and Malibu High School. Please review our updated presentation regarding screening before coming to campus, pick-up/drop-off procedures, covid safety protocols, lunch/nutrition info, etc. as we prepare for our hybrid and full reopening.  If you have not reviewed the updated presentation, please do so prior to coming to campus and spend some time reviewing the re-opening orientation with your child.  In addition, we have provided a checklist for you below:

    BEFORE COMING TO CAMPUS:

    • Parents will monitor their child’s health on a DAILY basis by completing the health self-screening and taking their child’s temperature at home before sending their child to school. The QR code can be found on the school website or you may access the questionnaire using this link. Take a screenshot of the green screen with date and time stamp or print and bring to campus with you.
    • Review this map for drop-off locations.
    • Be sure your child brings their fully charged school-issued chromebook and charger to school EVERY DAY.

    UPON ARRIVAL:

    • All drop-off (between 8:30am-8:55am) will occur in 2 places on campus. No drop off on Morning View Drive.
      - Middle School- new upper lot by football field
      - High School- student lot by pool
    • Be prepared to show a screenshot or printed “green square” from pre-screening app
    • Be sure your student is wearing a mask.

    WHILE ON CAMPUS:

    • Students must follow physical distancing guidelines, mask wearing, all posted signs, and directions from staff regarding health/safety.
    • At drop off, students should go directly to their classroom and not congregate on campus.  When moving throughout the campus, students are expected to follow the directional signage for stairwells and hallways.
    • During nutrition/lunch breaks, students should maintain 6 feet of physical distance.  Students may bring a snack for nutrition and a lunch from home. Alternatively, nutrition snack/lunch will continue to be provided for free, in a grab and go manner, for any student who needs it. Students may remove masks only when actively eating/drinking and must maintain 6 feet of physical distance at these times.  There will be designated serving areas and zones for middle school and high school students during these times.
    • Restroom capacity is limited to 2 students.  We need students to wait outside, 6 feet apart, if 2 students are already in the restroom. There are some restrooms that have been designated specifically for middle school or high school students.
    • Students who do not adhere to health/safety guidelines given multiple warnings may be asked to attend school remotely for a designated period of time.

    PICK UP:

    • Pick-Up (Do not arrive prior to 2:00pm) will occur in the following locations:
      - Middle School- new upper lot by football field
      - High School- along Morning View Drive (If picking up on Morning View, do not make a U turn. Pull through Cabrillo lot to exit to PCH)
      - High School- student lot by pool
    • Students must remain 6 feet apart and wear mask in all pick up locations.
