Film Santa Monica - Malibu Schools

The District’s Theater Operations office represents unique school sites guided by an industry-savvy staff.

The 18 schools in Santa Monica and Malibu provide a wide variety of locations and unique settings. The inventory includes period and contemporary school looks, California setting and schools that read as other regions. Besides the settings you expect from schools, we also offer many special features such as a 1937 Art Deco Concert Hall, 3,400-seat Greek Amphitheater, climbing wall, dance studio, bus yard, board room, office with cubicles, and a large field overlooking the ocean.

Our industry-savvy staff knows how to translate your needs to the school and make your filming run smoothly and efficiently.  We are a “one stop shop” to help you navigate through the layers of school and city procedures.  When you film at our Santa Monica schools, you will not need an additional Santa Monica Film Office permit.

Please contact the Theater Operations office for all inquires. We will send you photos, set up scouting and check availability. Weekends, evenings and school breaks are always preferred for filming, but we do film during school days under many conditions.  Rental Fees go toward enhancing school facilities.  Half of the rental fee goes directly to the school where the filming occurs.
