Vocal Music
The vocal music program at Samohi is one of the most accomplished in the region, winning awards and competing regularly in state and national competitions.
Concert Choir is an entry level choir for students (boys and girls) at any grade level. Valkyries and Vikings are intermediate level choirs requiring an audition and are also for students at any grade level. There are four other choirs offered for 10th-12th grade students.The program maintains a rigorous performance calendar and members of our choirs can often be found at the many arts events around our city. Last year the Madrigals and Chamber Singers performed in Italy and the Chorale performed in Mexico.
Studies have shown that students who participate in choral ensembles have higher G.P.A.s and feel a stronger connection to their school and community. Plus, students who have shown a sustained participation in the arts are more attractive to colleges and universities.
