ASB/Leadership 2008-2009

The ASB Cabinet at Santa Monica High School is comprised of about 60 students, both elected and appointed. The core group consists of nine students who are the Executive Board of the Associate of Student Body representatives holding positions to which they were elected in the Spring of the previous school year.

Representatives

There are also 12 House Representatives who comprise the elected portion of the ASB Cabinet -- two from each of the six Houses. These students are elected in the Spring of the previous school year. The remainder of students in ASB Cabinet are Members-at-Large.They are accepted after an application and interview process and are expected to have a committment to community service, involvement with their school and community, and willing to develop their leadership abilities.

Meetings

ASB meets every day during Period 4 in Room T103B. ASB Cabinet's official meetings are Tuesdays during period 4 in Room T103B. The ASB Cabinet members wear business-attire on meeting days.

What ASB/Leadership Does

The Associated Student Body Leadership is an organization whose purpose is to:
(a) provide a formal means of communication between students, organizations, district, faculty, staff, and administration, (b) advocate for students, (c) provide for student representation on campus and community committees, (d) provide opportunities for the development of the social and cultural interests of students, (e) develop leadership and responsibility, and (f) promote school spirit and student morale.

Blood Drives

We have 3 Blood Drives a year that students, faculty, staff, and parents are invited to participate in. You must be a minimum of 17 years of age, weigh 110 pounds or more, not have donated blood in the last 56 days, and be in good health. The Blood Drive will take place from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the South Gym. For more information, contact the Leadership Advisor.
