The State of California has a standardized testing program called CST.
The test covers many different areas like science and social studies, in addition to reading, language and mathematics.
In order for a student to be redesignated as fluent in English, he or she must perform at the same level as most English-only students.
The minimum score is"Basic" for a standardized test like the CST.
If your score on the last CST test was "below basic", or "far below basic" on the language test. You are still an English learner. You will have to retake the CELDT.
If your score was Basic or above,and you meet all the other criteria for redesignation, you do not have to retake the CELDT.
