When you apply to a UC or Cal State University, you need to have at least 2 years of a "foreign language" credit.
The SAT-II tests of languages can substitute for the U.C./Cal State University requirement when you apply.
Remember that "English as a second language" does not count as a "foreign" language to apply for college.
You can take the SAT-II test for your first language or for another language that you know.
Be sure to look into the SAT-II test carefully; not all languages are offered for the SAT-II test, and the college you are applying for may not accept an SAT-II test. Some colleges even require a "foreign" language for applying students.
