DISSENT: TEEN NIGHT 2012
Saturday, February 11, 6:30–10pm
The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA
152 North Central Ave, LA, CA 90012

Each year, teens take over the museum for an evening extravaganza of art, music, and more. Inspired by MOCA’s exhibition Under the Big Black Sun: California Art 1974–1981, the aim of DISSENT: TEEN NIGHT 2012 is to inform the youth of Los Angeles of the political and social roles of artists during a time when there seemed to be no place for speaking up against the opinions of political and institutional authority. The event will feature live performances and visual art by local students, artmaking, and refreshments. Have fun, hang out, and learn something new. Teen Night is an event exclusively for students in high school, hosted by teens from the MOCA Apprenticeship Program (MAP).
This year, attendees will receive a complimentary museum membership!
Submit artwork to be considered for the student art exhibition, which will be on display at TEEN NIGHT. One student artist, whose artwork best depicts the theme of DISSENT, will be selected to win a special prize courtesy of the MOCA
Apprenticeship Program. The winner will be announced at the event.
