STUDENT REGISTRATION - FALL 2009

No schedules will be given out before their assigned day and time. Schedules may be picked up any time after the assigned day and time as long as it is before 3:30 PM on September 1.



Class Schedule Pick-up and Registration Day and Time

See the following schedule to pick up your class schedule. It coincides with the student's birth month.

Registration Information

The following MUST be taken care of at registration:
  • Obligations - All obligations must be cleared and missing text books returned or paid for.
  • Emergency Cards - 3 Emergency Cards (included in the packet) must be completely filled out. - used for House Office, Nurse's Office, Emergency Bin.
  • Federal Race and Ethnicity Survey (part of the Information Update Sheet)
  • Information Update Sheet - Correct any change of address, phone, or other incorrect information. To verify your new address, please bring 2 utility bills or copies with you. No phone bills will be accepted. MUST BE SIGNED BY A PARENT.
  • ID Photos and Binder Reminders - A photo will be taken at registration for the student ID. If you cannot have your photo taken that day, the makeup will be September 18. Buying the Binder Reminder is mandatory. $12.00 for Binder Reminder and ID Card.
  • Schedule Pick-up - After the previous stations have been completed, students may pick up their schedule. Final schedules will be handed out on the first day of school, September 9, 2009.

The following OPTIONS may be taken care of at registration:

  • Delian Registration for grades 10-12 - Delian sign-up will be taking place during registration with make-up dates of:
    Wed., Sept. 16 at 12:05 – 12:40 pm
    Thurs., Sept. 17 at 12:35 – 1:10 pm

  • Lockers - Student may sign up for a locker at the end of the registration process. (This is not the PE locker.)
  • Off Campus Pass - If parent is present at registration, he or she may sign to allow student to go off campus at lunch for the fall semester. This applies to grades 10-12 only.
  • PE Clothes - These can be purchased in the Vikes Inn during registration if needed. Students must have a Samohi lock for their PE Locker or purchase one at the Vikes Inn for $5.50. Students trying out for sports teams should not buy PE Clothes as they may not need them. (You may not supply your own lock.)
  • PSAT - Sign up for the PSAT at registration for $28. This year the test will be on Saturday, October 17, 2009.
  • Sports Pass - A Sports Pass will be available for purchase for $25. This covers admission to all Samohi sporting events at home or away for the 09-10 school year.
  • Senior Parking - Senior students may sign up to be included in the lottery for senior parking.
  • Textbooks - You may check out textbooks during registration.  Once you have your current Samohi ID card and your schedule you may check out History, Math, Science, foreign Language and AP Class textbooks.
  • Yearbooks - You may reserve your 09-10 Nautilus by bringing $70. The price goes up on the first day of school.
  • PTSA - Communication and Involvement form. Join PTSA and signup for many volunteer opportunities. PTSA accepts credit cards, cash, or checks made out to "Samohi PTSA."

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL

School begins on Wednesday, September 9. Period 1 begins at 9:36 AM. (This is a Late Start day with no "A" period.) Parent volunteers will be posted around the campus to help students locate their classrooms.

Schedule Distribution:

  • Arrive early and look at the grade-level lists posted at the Science Quad & Main Quad Breezeway to find your Period 1 classroom number.
  • Complete schedules will be distributed in Period 1.
  • If you arrive after Period 1, report to the Greek.
  • Schedules for students who owe obligations will be held until all obligations have been cleared.

Miscellaneous Information:

  • The District allows students to have cell phones, but they must be turned off during class time. Cell phones may be used before and after school and during lunch only.
  • For a student to leave campus during lunch, he must have a campus lunch pass sticker on the Student ID card. Parents must complete and sign the release form in the presence of school staff or administrator.
  • Students are encouraged to leave expensive electronics at home. Samohi is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
