Jamie foxx and vh1 to screen “ThunderSoul” at Santa monica high school

 

This Thursday, October 6th, Roadside Attractions in conjunction with the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, will present a screening of the captivating, true story of “ThunderSoul” at 3:30pm in Barnum Hall on the Santa Monica High School campus (601 Pico Blvd., Santa Monica).

 

Presented by Jamie Foxx, the film follows the extraordinary alumni from Houston’s Kashmere High School Stage Band, who return home after thirty-five years to play a tribute concert for the ninety-two-year-old “Prof,” their beloved band leader who transformed the school’s struggling jazz band into a world-class funk powerhouse in the early 1970s. 

 

In honor of this partnership, Roadside Attractions will be presenting a $15,000 donation to the VH-1 Save The Music Foundation.

 

All students can attend the screening for FREE (show student ID), while all adults will be asked for a $10 donation to attend, with all proceeds going toward the Santa Monica High School music department.

 

The VH-1 Save The Music Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring instrumental music education programs in America’s public schools, and raising awareness about the importance of music as part of each child’s complete education. To date, the Foundation has provided $48 million worth of new musical instruments to more than 1,800 public schools in more than 100 cities around the country, impacting the lives of more than 1.8 million public school students.
