SAMOHI Senior wins teen nick halo award

 

Megan Kilroy, a senior at Santa Monica High School, will be presented with a HALO (“Helping and Leading Others”) Award by Justin Timberlake, Hayden Panettiere, Labron James, Alicia Keys, and Nick Cannon, for her environmental work and inspirational leadership with Samohi’s Team Marine.

 

The awards ceremony, during which three other teens will be receiving a HALO Award, will be aired on Friday, December 11 at 5:00pm (PST) on TeenNick, followed by an encore performance at 9:00pm on Nick at Nite.

 

Kilroy was awarded $20,000, half of which will go towards her college education and the other half to help continue her work with Samohi’s Team Marine. 

 

This is the first year for the TeenNick HALO Awards.  They are given to teenagers in the United States who have made a positive impact in their community.  Friday night’s award ceremony will highlight heart warming stories about these four teens and their efforts as they relate to the environment, HIV/AIDS, Scoliosis, and life in the ghetto.  Nick Cannon, Chairman of TeenNick and one of the celebrities presenting the awards, is the creator, host, and executive producer of the HALO Awards.  To view the video trailers, visit http://www.teennick.com/halo/.
