BACK BARNUM HALL!
A Concert to Celebrate
Barnum Hall’s Restoration, Renovation, & the Installation of the Wurlitzer
Theater Organ donated by Gordon Belt
Last summer, a renovated 1921 Wurlitzer Pipe Organ donated
by Gordon Belt was installed in Barnum Hall. The return of this outstanding
pipe organ completes the renovation of the Hall. This concert is an
opportunity to thank all of the people who were instrumental in restoring
Barnum Hall.
Barnum Hall was built in 1937 by the Works Project
Administration (WPA). Built on the expanding
By 1994,
Barnum Hall had fallen into disrepair and the Northridge Earthquake destroyed
the original pipe organ. A coalition of citizens, parents, alumni,
faculty and elected officials worked tirelessly for years to generate the funds
to restore the Hall. The volunteer group Restore Barnum Hall! raised awareness in the community and more than $1 million
to restore the hall. The City of
