SMMUSD Ballroom Madness – Elementary school dance-off!

 

Students from John Muir, Will Rogers, and Webster Elementary Schools will have a chance to strut their stuff during an interschool dance-off on December 11 at 10:00am in Barnum Hall at Santa Monica High School.

 

This fall, all 5th graders from these three sites were taught the following ballroom dances: Merengue, Foxtrot, Rumba, Tango, Swing and Waltz. Ten students from each site were chosen to represent their site on stage and a team of celebrity judges will determine which of the three teams will bring back a trophy to their “home” school.  The “match off” for this competition was captured in the documentary Mad Hot Ballroom.

 

Parents and members of the community and media are welcome to attend and support the students free of charge.  Please understand that because school is in session during the event, there will be no available parking available at Samohi.  Additional parking is available across 4th Street at the Civic Auditorium parking garage (enter off 4th Street, turn right at Civic Center Drive). Cross 4th Street at the crosswalk, walk between the Doubletree Inn and the track to enter the Santa Monica High School Campus.
