WEBSTER ELEMENTARY CELEBRATES EARTH DAY AT PARAMOUNT RANCH |
||
Webster Elementary School celebrated Earth Day in a big way on April 22 by sending the entire student body to Paramount Ranch for an Earth Day Celebration. Students planted six native tree species, including Walnut, Sycamore, Live Oak, Valley Oak, Willow, and Elderberry. They also planted a variety of native shrubs and grasses, according to Christy Brigham, a National Park Service ecologist. "Webster students, following other school plantings on Monday and Tuesday, were able to plant more than 2,000 trees and shrubs here at Paramount Ranch," noted Brigham. The National Park Service provided twenty staff members to help coordinate the extensive planting, along with Webster teachers and parents. Webster students also enjoyed a musical performance by a French student choir who are visiting Malibu and staying with Webster families. The event was organized by Kids 4 Trees in conjunction with the National Park Service. |
