SMMUSD Revising and updating
district policies (update)
SMMUSD is
embarking on a process of reviewing and updating all its policies,
administrative regulations, and related exhibits. The second of four
board meetings to review the new draft policies was held last night, May
28. The third discussion will be during
the June 4 meeting, which begins at 5:30pm at the district office. A fourth meeting to discuss the draft policies
is scheduled for June 10 at 6:00pm.
It was
agreed that California School Boards Association Board (CSBA) policies would
serve as an example for that comparative review and in November a series of
workshops were conducted with appropriate staff and a consultant from CSBA to
review each District Policy, administrative regulation, and exhibit along side
those of CSBA and make recommended changes to the Board. Previous
revisions made to policies that reflect the specific interests of SMMUSD have
not been altered (as long as those revisions are compliant with state and
federal law).
The
following policies came forward for a first reading on May 14, 2009. They
will return for action at a future meeting. If members of the public
