Malcolm McNab to Host Free Trumpet Clinic to SMMUSD Students
On Thursday, December 6th, from 3:30 to 5:50 PM,
world-renowned trumpet player Malcom McNab will be offering a free trumpet
clinic to SMMUSD students at Barnum Hall on the Samohi campus.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Mr. McNab joined the
Pasadena Symphony at age 16. His resume includes playing in the West Point
Band, studying with two members of the New York Philharmonic, performing
with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the L.A. Chamber Orchestra, and the New York
City Opera orchestra. He has performed with pop stars such as Frank Zappa,
Dionne Warwick, the late Peggy Lee, and Chicago. He has also performed in the
orchestras for the Academy Awards, the Emmy, and GRAMMY broadcasts, as
well as about 1,500 movie scores, including “Jaws,” “E.T.,” “Indiana Jones,”
“Jurassic Park,” and “Dances with Wolves.” Mr. McNab has taught at Cal
State Fullerton, Cal State Long Beach, and UCLA. More information regarding Mr.

Members of the public are welcome to observe the
clinic. The district’s trumpet students
are encouraged to bring their mouthpiece, trumpet, and any music they would
like to play for Mr. McNab. Parking is available in the north lot at Samohi.
The opportunity for young students to participate
in a clinic with a musician of the caliber of Malcom McNab is a rare one,
especially free of charge! This will be a great learning
experience for young musicians!
