SAMOHI JAZZ BAND FUNRAISER
WITH JAZZ PIANIST GEORGE KAHN
The George Kahn “West Coast Jazz” Quintet will perform a
concert/fundraiser that benefits the Santa Monica High School Jazz Band, as
well as the Santa Monica Public School music programs, at The Jazz Bakery on Sunday afternoon, June 3rd from 3:00-6:00 PM.
This ‘all ages’ event will feature
Jazz Pianist, George Kahn, along with renowned Saxophone player, Justo Almario, and on trumpet, direct
from the American Idol Band, Harry Kim. Also playing with George will be the
incomparable M.B. Gordy on drums and
Karl Vincent on standup bass.
Opening for George will be the
award-winning Santa Monica High School Big Band, under the direction of Mr. Tom Whaley, SMMUSD’s Visual and
Performing Arts Coordinator. After a
short break, The George Kahn “West Coast Jazz” quintet will perform a full
set. This afternoon of great jazz is
perfect for students, jazz lovers, and jazz lovers who have kids who are often
not able to make it out for evening music performances. This is a terrific way to spend time with
the family and to expose them to jazz while also supporting music education in
the public schools. This event promises
to be entertaining, educational, and rewarding.
The event will most
likely sell-out, so we recommend arriving by 2:15 PM for the best seating. The Samohi Jazz band will begin at 3:00 PM
and the “West Coast Jazz” Quintet will perform immediately following on the
same stage. The Jazz Bakery is located

Tickets for this concert are
$25.00 per person and $13.00 for students under 21 with ID.
ALL profits from the show will directly support the Samohi Jazz
Band.
