Applications Soon Available to Fill Vacancy on Board of Education
Applications
to fill a vacancy on the SMMUSD Board of Education will be available to the
public following the June 28, 2007, board meeting.
Ms.
Emily Bloomfield, who was originally elected to the Board of Education in
November 2002 and reelected in November 2006, will be vacating her seat at the
end of June 2007 due to a change of residency outside of the district
boundaries.
Applicants
to the Board of Education must reside within the boundaries of either the City
of Malibu or the City of Santa Monica.
The
applicant who is ultimately selected by the board will serve as a member of the
Board of Education until the next General Election, to be held in February
2008. At that time, residents of Santa
Monica and Malibu will elect a new board member to serve out the completion of
Ms. Bloomfield’s term, to end in December 2010.
Members
of the public are encouraged to apply.
Applications are due in early July (exact date to be determined), and
can be submitted to the Superintendent’s Office at 1651 16th Street,
Santa Monica, CA 90404, or faxed to 310.581.1138.
