The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School
District Fills
Administrative Vacancies
The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School
District (SMMUSD) is proud to announce the selection of a number of exceptional
individuals to fill administrative vacancies within the District.
Tara Brown comes to us from the Lancaster School
District to assume the principalship of Franklin Elementary School. Ms. Brown not only served as Principal for
the past five years, but she was also a middle school Assistant Principal and
an At-Risk Teacher/Administrative Intern, totaling fourteen years with her
previous district. We are very
fortunate to have Ms. Brown join the SMMUSD as she is a seasoned and strong
administrator who is committed to student success, achievement, and
learning. Her demonstrated leadership
in remarkable improvement in state testing scores will be a valuable asset to
our students and District.
Tristen Macon has been selected for the Math
Coordinator position in the Educational Services Department. Tristen has been a teacher at Will Rogers
Learning Community for the last eight years.
As a National Board Certified Teacher, Tristen understands
differentiated instruction strategies, shares her extensive knowledge with her
peers and supports all student learning.
She has extended and enriched her mathematical learning through
professional development opportunities.
Tristen has been recognized for her collaborative working relationships,
clear communication skills, and results-oriented leadership.
Irma Lyons has been selected for the principalship
of Will Rogers Learning Community. Irma
began as a classroom teacher at Will Rogers in 1992 and was promoted to
Assistant Principal in 2003. As Interim
Principal for the 2005 - 2006 school year, Irma has demonstrated that she is an
instructional leader, an effective communicator, and a committed educator. Besides being a parent of students in our
District, Irma is a Carnegie Scholar, Mentor Teacher and a life-long
learner.
We are pleased to welcome all of our
staff members to their new positions.
We expect the 2006-2007 school year to hold many exciting learning
opportunities for our staff and students.
