The Human Relations Council- Santa Monica Bay Area (HRC) will celebrate the work of nearly 70 Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District students on June 15, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the John Adams Middle School auditorium. The 46th Annual Literature and Arts Program celebration honors students from across the District in grades 4 – 12 for their outstanding work responding to this year’s prompt: A Respectful Community – Each Individual’s Right; Each Individual Responsibility. All student essays and artwork reflect their perspectives on the idea of the development of a community that embraces diversity, respect, inclusion and justice. The Santa Monica Bay Area Human Relations Council is a partnership of community organizations, institutions and businesses that actively promotes and supports a respectful and socially just community through education, advocacy, and resolution of local conflicts and issues. In addition to the Annual Literature and Arts Program, the HRC sponsors community-wide dialogues.
The celebration is open to the public and admission is free. For more information, please contact hrc@smmusd.org or call 310.450.8338, extension 155.
