SMMUSD Board of Education Accepting Applications for Financial
Oversight Committee
Opportunity for Parent and Community Involvement in
Public Education
With the resignations of Chris
Harding and Mike Phillips from the Financial Oversight Committee, the Santa
Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education is accepting
applications to fill two vacancies on the District’s Financial Oversight
Advisory Committee. The application
deadline is July 14, 2006 at 4:00 p.m.
Parents and community members are invited to apply.
The Financial Oversight Committee
was originally formed in answer to the community’s desire for increased
communication and understanding of the District’s financial operations and a
need to generate additional revenue for the District. Following is the criteria for selections:

Broad
perspective;
·
Financial
and/or management and/or legal expertise/experience;
·
Residing,
employed, or working within the geographic boundaries of Santa Monica-Malibu
Unified School District
·
Business
process orientation;
·
Communicates
clearly information resulting from the committee’s work;
·
Not
currently serving as an elected official
All attempts will be made to
have the composition of the committee reflective of the student
population.
The Financial Oversight
Committee meets regularly, once a month, in the District’s Testing Room, 1651
16th Street, Second Floor in Santa Monica.
Following is the appointment
timeline:
July 14, 2006 - Applications due in the Superintendent’s Office
August 17, 2006 - Appointment by
Board of Education
Applications may be obtained
