HONORING THE VOICES OF YOUTH

WHAT: SPEAKOUT ON YOUTH VIOLENCE PREVENTION

WHEN: January 29, 2002 - 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.

WHERE: Santa Monica High School Cafeteria - 601 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica

Following up on the Community Peace Vigil of December 17th, "Honoring the Light of Youth," the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, in full partnership with the community, are sponsoring a youth speakout from 7:00-9:00pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2002, in the Santa Monica High School Cafeteria.

Respecting that youth often feel that their concerns about violence and related issues are not always heard by the important adults and decision makers in their lives, this event is planned as an opportunity for youth to speak, and adults, including community leaders, to listen. The ultimate goal, for both youth and adults, is to develop the lines of communication, strategies, partnerships and resources to end the various forms violence which repeatedly devastate the lives of children, families and the community as a whole. This event welcomes participation from the community.
