Santa Monica High School Performing Arts Department

Presents Homecoming Spectacular 2001

Santa Monica High School's Performing Arts Department will present a Homecoming Spectacular Concert on Thursday, November 1, 2001, 7:00 p.m. at SAMOHI's Greek Theater, 601 Pico Boulevard. As a part of the homecoming celebrations for SAMOHI, the most advanced performing ensembles will be showcased Thursday evening, as a prelude to the great football game which will be played on Friday. SAMOHI is known both nationally and internationally as a public school which prepares and presents student performing ensembles of the highest caliber. Every year, SAMOHI graduates enter the most prestigious music schools in the United States and abroad - in both university and conservatory programs. The entertainment industry is filled with SAMOHI graduates who have made, and continue to make a tremendous impact.

The concert will feature the SAMOHI Marching Band, the Symphony Orchestra, the Madrigals, the Wind Ensemble, the Dance Ensemble, the Concert Orchestra, the Symphonic Winds, the Chamber Singers, and the SAMOHI Serenaders (SAMOHI's Jazz Ensemble). Ticket sales for this event will help support the students in the performing ensembles by supporting the purchase of instruments, music, performance clothing, and other equipment needs. A $7.00 donation may be made at the door, or pre-sale tickets may be purchased by sending an order to Santa Monica High School, Attn: Dr. Carl Hammer, 601 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90405. Pre-sale tickets are $5.00 for adults, and $3.00 for students.

This year, the music program will be honored as a recipient of the 2000-2001 Grammy Signature Schools Award. This award is presented to one hundred high schools to honor their outstanding achievement in music education.

All are welcome to attend: Alumni, parents and family, students, faculty and staff, administration, future students of SAMOHI, and friends of SAMOHI. This will be the first concert of the season. The students are ready to display the usually high achievement that has come to be associated with Santa Monica High School Performing Ensembles.
