GRAMMY FOUNDATION NAMES SANTA MONICA HIGH SCHOOL

AS A GRAMMY SIGNATURE SCHOOL

The GRAMMY Foundation, a non-profit arm of the Recording Academy, has announced that Santa Monica High School has been named as a GRAMMY Signature School. Santa Monica High School is one of 100 schools in the United States, out of more than 18,000 public high schools, to receive this prestigious honor which recognizes the school's high level of commitment to music education.

The selection process began with a request for information about the school's music program. Schools were asked to submit additional documentation such as records of school concerts, sample concert programs, music curriculum and repertoire. A screening committee comprised of university music professors, music professionals and representatives from professional music organizations reviewed the materials and made their selection.

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, as well as Santa Monica High School, has done an exceptional job of cultivating the arts programs. The District is committed to ensuring that music and arts education make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
