Local Funding Measures for 21st-Century Schools

Although some SMMUSD schools and classrooms have been modernized, many others have not, and there is more to do to support 21st-century learning and improve safety in all our neighborhood schools. In order to address these needs and provide maximum local control to Malibu and Santa Monica in determining the use of each community's funds, the District has created two School Facility Improvement Districts ("SFIDs") and placed two separate bond measures on the November 6, 2018 ballot for Santa Monica and Malibu voters to consider. SMMUSD School Board Approves Framework for Malibu Unification

Fifty-year revenue-sharing plan recommended
The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education approved a framework for Malibu unification, with a 50-year revenue sharing plan, at a special board meeting held on March 20, 2018 in the district's boardroom in Santa Monica.
