Free Citizenship classes for adults who are eligible to become United States citizens.  We will help you determine eligibility.

Our comprehensive citizenship program is designed to help the citizenship applicant through the entire application process. The course includes instruction in US civics, history, and government. In addition, the instructor helps students complete and submit their citizenship applications as well as preparing them to pass the official citizenship review.  Practice is provided in written dictation and in answering questions for the oral interview.

All registered citizenship students who apply through the Santa-Monica Unified School District Adult Education Center will be prepared for Naturalization.  This takes place throughout the course and especially after the applicant has submitted the citizenship application and is waiting for the citizenship interview. Practice is provided in written dictation and in answering questions for the oral interview.  You might also have the opportunity to drive to the interview with your teacher and or classmates who are scheduled on the same day.

* Prerequisite: Student must be eligible to become a U.S. citizen and read, write, and speak English at an intermediate level.

* Enrollment:  Students are required to schedule and attend an orientation appointment prior to attending classes.  Students will take assessment, meet with counselor, process student education plan and register for classes at the time of the orientation.  Sessions take approximately 2 1⁄2 hours.  Please plan accordingly.
