Infant and Family Support
Founded in 1997, the Infant & Family Support Program (IFSP) is a child-parent-school-community partnership that unifies Santa Monica neighborhoods around a common goal: all children are born healthy and enter school ready to learn. IFSP was birthed out of the hearts and minds of many educators and advocates from our community. We believe that parents and caregivers of young children need to be reached, way before attending school, with the latest information on child development, brain research and parenting.
Through parent and child programs in local parks and schools, community special events and health insurance application assistance, IFSP serves as a hub for families with young children as they progress through infancy, toddlerhood and the preschool years toward a successful transition to kindergarten.
As the initial links in a chain of concerned people, the staff of IFSP Family Advocates reach out to pregnant women and families with children birth to five years of age, establishing supportive relationships, facilitating wellness activities and linking families with their neighbors and other community resources. In other words, we help you! Families are identified through contacts with local hospitals and childbirth classes, birth records, neighborhood word of mouth and this website!
