|Child Development Services offers both preschool programs and school-age child care programs throughout Santa Monica. We welcome the opportunity to work with children who have special needs and their parents to determine how we can support every child's successful participation in our programs.
Preschool: The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) preschool programs offer experiences for 3 and 4 year old children through the California State Preschool Program, Head Start and Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP). Programs are available for a fee, or are no-cost or low-cost for financially eligible families.
School Age: The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) School Age programs are available for students in Transitional Kindergarten (TK) to 3rd grade at all elementary schools in Santa Monica and at Juan Cabrillo in Malibu for students K to 5th grade. Our Before and After school programs offer a rich array of activities as well as a daily homework opportunity.
Teen Center: Students at Lincoln Middle School are offered a safe and supervised childcare environment during after school hours. Every day, the “Teen” Center offers students a relaxed atmosphere where they can socialize, get homework done with assistance and engage in age appropriate activities.
Teen Parents: Pregnant and parenting students may enroll in the teen parent program at Santa Monica High School. Infant/toddler care is provided on campus and students enroll in a required parenting class taught by Child Development Services staff.
