Billing and Fees

The SMMUSD Child Development Services Fiscal Supervisor and staff provide sound financial management of the department resources in accordance with Board of Education policies, accepted business procedures and the district budget development process. Responsibilities include budgeting and billing for infant/toddler care, preschool and school-age childcare fees as well as the financial management of the entire department.

SMMUSD Child Development Services programs are separately funded by federal, state, and local programs.  CDS funds and the CDS budget are not part of the general district budget for kindergarten through twelfth grade.  CDS revenues are generally referred to as "Fund 12" in the overall district budget.

Fees & Fee Collection
Full cost program fees are approved by the SMMUSD Board of Education and reflect current market rates for childcare. Subsidy (financial assistance) childcare fees are based on the State Department of Education, Child Development Division Fee Schedule. All fees are paid on a monthly basis in advance of services on or before the 25th day of the preceding month at the childcare site or the CDS office. Fees are charged on the basis of enrollment, not attendance.

Full cost programs are offered September to June. Full cost fees are the same amount every month regardless of number of school days open. Winter, spring and summer break fees are extra. FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.

IMPORTANT:  Financial assistance is available based on income verification and demonstration of need for care.
