Child Development Services offers both preschool programs and school-age child care programs throughout Santa Monica. We welcome the opportunity to work with children who have special needs and their parents to determine how we can support every child's successful participation in our programs. Preschool: The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) preschool programs offer experiences for 2, 3, and 4 year old children through the California State Preschool Program, Head Start and Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP). Programs are available for a fee, or are no-cost or low-cost for financially eligible families. School Age/CREST: Elementary students are offered childcare, recreation, enrichment and sports opportunities through Santa Monica’s before and after school program for children in kindergarten through 5th grade. A partnership of the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District and the City of Santa Monica, CREST boasts a rich array of flexible program options for students and families. CREST Teen Centers: Students at John Adams and Lincoln Middle Schools are offered a safe and supervised childcare environment during after school hours. Every day, the “Teen” Centers offer students a relaxed atmosphere where they can socialize and get homework done with assistance. Teen Parents: Pregnant and parenting students may enroll in the teen parent program at Santa Monica High School. Infant/toddler care is provided on campus and students enroll in a required parenting class taught by Child Development Services staff. For more information, call 310-395-3204 x167.
