SMMUSD Raising Funds to Support DACA Renewals for Students

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District is joining forces with the City of Santa Monica and Santa Monica College to raise funds to help pay the $505 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) renewal fee for SMMUSD students, SMC students and residents. Anyone who is interested in supporting SMMUSD DACA students may donate in any amount on this website. SMMUSD students from Samohi, Olympic and Malibu High School can apply for the assistance by scheduling an appointment with SMC's Director of Academic Affairs Initiatives, Edna Chavarry, during hosted DACA Renewal Processing Events that have begun at SMC this week. SMMUSD Superintendent's Statement Regarding DACA

We understand the concern and fear felt by our families and communities regarding the Trump administration's recent decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. I share these concerns and I am deeply disappointed in this decision.
The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education and I reaffirm our commitment to providing all school-aged students with access to an excellent education and the opportunities that education provides without regard to their immigration status or the immigration status of their parents. Dr. Jacqueline MoraSMMUSD Announces Dr. Jacqueline Mora, New Assistant Superintendent, Educational Services

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Dr. Jacqueline Mora as the new assistant superintendent of educational services at its September 13, 2017 regular board meeting. Dr. Mora's appointment is effective October 2, 2017. Dr. Mora brings 17 years of public education experience to SMMUSD. She has been serving as the director of English learner and parent engagement programs at Santa Barbara Unified School District since July 2016. Previously she served as an elementary school principal for schools in Santa Barbara, San Francisco Unified and Glendale Unified. She has also previously served as assistant principal, categorical program advisor and teacher in LAUSD. She is bilingual in Spanish. Read More >

Lincoln Middle School Field and Track will be Open to the Public

New lights will mean shared public use during non-school hours in accordance with longstanding agreement between City and District
The field and track at Lincoln Middle School are currently under renovation, with plans for reopening by January 2018. When reopened, the general public will continue to have access when school is not in session, or permitted sports are taking place. Read More >
